Jason Burke (born 1970) is a British journalist and author known for his extensive coverage of Africa and the Middle East. He has served as a correspondent for The Guardian, covering topics such as politics, social affairs, and culture. With a particular focus on Islamic extremism, Burke has written about conflicts including the wars of 2001 in Afghanistan and 2003 in Iraq. He is the author of several non-fiction books, including Al-Qaeda: The True Story of Radical Islam, which has been praised by Noam Chomsky. Burke has also appeared in the 2004 BBC documentary The Power of Nightmares. Currently based in Johannesburg, he was previously stationed in New Delhi as The Guardian's South Asia correspondent.
