Jason James Richter (born January 29, 1980) is an American actor and musician. He rose to fame for his portrayal of Jesse in the Free Willy film series, where he played the young boy who forms a special bond with the orca named Willy. Born in Medford, Oregon, Richter's talent was discovered at a young age when a Japanese casting agency spotted him in Hawaii. He made his acting debut in several TV spots before relocating to San Diego, California. Richter's notable film credits include Cops & Robbersons, The NeverEnding Story III, Laserhawk, and The Setting Son. He also reprised his role as Jesse in the music video for Michael Jackson's 'Childhood.'
