    Jason Samuels Smith (born October 4, 1980) is an American tap dancer, choreographer, and director. Born in New York City, he began his professional performing career at an early age through Frank Hatchett's Professional Children's Program at the Broadway Dance Center. With appearances on Sesame Street and understudying the leading role in Bring in 'Da Noise, Bring in 'Da Funk on Broadway at age 15, Samuels Smith quickly made a name for himself. He won an Emmy and American Choreography Award for his outstanding choreography in a tribute to Gregory Hines on the Jerry Lewis/MDA Telethon. In 2003, he created the First Annual Los Angeles Tap Festival, earning a Certificate of Appreciation from the City of Los Angeles and a proclamation declaring April 23 as 'Jason Samuels Day.'
