Jay DeMarcus

Jay DeMarcus, born Stanley Wayne DeMarcus Jr. on April 26, 1971, is an American bassist, vocalist, pianist, record producer, and songwriter. He is best known as a member of the country pop group Rascal Flatts from 1999 to 2021. DeMarcus was born in Columbus, Ohio, and attended Tree of Life Christian Schools and Fort Hayes Metropolitan Education Center. He graduated from Lee College in Cleveland, Tennessee, in 1992. DeMarcus co-founded the contemporary Christian music group East to West and later moved to Nashville, Tennessee, in 1993. He convinced his second cousin, Gary LeVox, to join him in Nashville, leading to their collaboration in Rascal Flatts.
