Jay Kay

Jay Kay, born Jason Luís Cheetham on December 30, 1969, is a British singer and songwriter. He is best known as the lead vocalist of the acid jazz and funk band Jamiroquai, which he co-founded in 1992. Born in Stretford, Kay had an itinerant childhood, splitting time between rural Suffolk and rural Devon. He moved to Manchester as a youngster and attended Oakham School. At the age of 15, he experienced homelessness and turned to small crimes to survive. Kay's musical career began with Jamiroquai's debut album 'Emergency on Planet Earth' in 1993, which achieved critical acclaim. Since then, he has released numerous successful albums and continues to perform and tour worldwide.
