Jean-Claude Van Damme, born Jean-Claude Camille François Van Varenberg, is a Belgian martial artist, actor, filmmaker, and fight choreographer. He was born on October 18, 1960, in Brussels, Belgium. Van Damme began his martial arts training at the age of ten and competed in various karate and kickboxing competitions. In 1982, he moved to the United States to pursue his acting career. After working on several films, he gained recognition as the lead in the martial arts film Bloodsport (1988). Van Damme went on to star in numerous successful action films, including Cyborg (1989), Kickboxer (1989), Universal Soldier (1992), Timecop (1994), and Street Fighter (1994). Despite a period of decline, he made a comeback with the critically acclaimed crime drama
