Jeffrey Allen Ament (born March 10, 1963) is an American musician known for his role as the bassist of the rock band Pearl Jam, which he co-founded. Ament has written or co-written several of Pearl Jam's popular songs, including 'Jeremy,' 'Oceans,' and 'Nothingman.' Prior to joining Pearl Jam, Ament was involved with other influential grunge rock bands such as Green River and Mother Love Bone. He is highly regarded for his ability to play various types of bass guitars, including the fretless bass, upright bass, and twelve-string bass. Ament has also been a member of several other bands, including Temple of the Dog and Three Fish. In addition to his work with Pearl Jam, he has released several solo albums, such as 'Tone' (2008), 'While My Heart Beats' (2012), and 'Heaven/Hell' (2018). Ament was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with Pearl Jam in 2017 and has been recognized as one of the top hard rock/metal bassists of all time.
