Jefferson Mays is an American actor known for his impressive stage career. Born on June 8, 1965, he has received several prestigious awards throughout his acting journey, including a Tony Award, a Helen Hayes Award, a Lucille Lortel Award, two Drama Desk Awards, two Outer Critics Circle Awards, and three Obie Awards. Mays grew up in Clinton, Connecticut, with his parents, a naval intelligence officer and a children's librarian, and his siblings. He studied at Yale College, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree, and the University of California, San Diego, where he obtained a Master of Fine Arts. Mays has performed at renowned theaters such as La Jolla Playhouse, Long Wharf Theatre, Williamstown Theatre Festival, and Playwrights Horizons. Notably, he appeared on Broadway in the Pulitzer Prize-winning play 'I Am My Own Wife' and won the Tony Award in 2004 for his remarkable performance.
