Jesse Ventura, born James George Janos on July 15, 1951, is an American politician, actor, and retired professional wrestler. He gained fame in the World Wrestling Federation (WWF, now WWE) and later served as the 38th governor of Minnesota from 1999 to 2003. Ventura was elected governor with the Reform Party and remains their only candidate to win a major government office. Prior to his political career, Ventura served in the United States Navy Underwater Demolition Team during the Vietnam War. He had a successful wrestling career from 1975 to 1986, using the ring name 'Jesse 'the Body' Ventura.' Ventura also pursued acting, appearing in films such as Predator and The Running Man.
