Jessie Lawrence Ferguson (June 8, 1941 – April 26, 2019) was an African American actor known for his roles in various films and television shows. Born in The Bronx, New York, he later moved to Chicago, Illinois. Ferguson's first major role was in the TV series Starsky and Hutch in 1979. However, he is best remembered for his portrayal of a self-hating racist police officer in John Singleton's Academy Award-nominated film Boyz n the Hood (1991). He also appeared in notable films such as John Carpenter's Prince of Darkness and Sam Raimi's Darkman. Ferguson had additional TV show appearances in Star Trek: The Next Generation and Mike Hammer: Murder Takes All. He passed away at the age of 77 due to a heart attack.
