    Jia Tolentino (born 1988) is an American writer and editor known for her work as a staff writer at The New Yorker. She has also served as the deputy editor of Jezebel and a contributing editor at The Hairpin. Tolentino's writing has been featured in publications such as The New York Times Magazine and Pitchfork. In 2019, she released her collection of essays, Trick Mirror: Reflections on Self-Delusion. Born in Toronto, Ontario, Tolentino grew up in Houston, Texas, in a Southern Baptist community. She attended an evangelical megachurch and a Christian private school, graduating as the salutatorian of her high school class. Tolentino has also appeared on the game show Girls v. Boys in Puerto Rico at the age of 15.
