James Patrick Caviezel Jr. (born September 26, 1968) is an American actor known for his roles in various movies and TV shows. He gained widespread recognition for his portrayal of Jesus in the film The Passion of the Christ (2004). Caviezel has also appeared in other notable films such as G.I. Jane (1997), The Thin Red Line (1998), Frequency (2000), Angel Eyes (2001), and The Count of Monte Cristo (2002). On television, he starred as John Reese in the CBS series Person of Interest (2011–2016). Caviezel was born in Mount Vernon, Washington, and comes from a Catholic family with Swiss, Slovak, and Irish roots. He began his acting career in Seattle, Washington before making his mark in the entertainment industry.
