Jim James

Jim James, born James Edward Olliges Jr. on April 27, 1978, is an American vocalist, guitarist, producer, and primary songwriter. He is best known as the lead vocalist and guitarist of the rock band My Morning Jacket. James grew up in Louisville, Kentucky and attended St. Xavier High School before briefly attending the University of Kentucky. Prior to forming My Morning Jacket, he was part of the band Month of Sundays, now known as Mont de Sundua. James' contributions as a vocalist, frontman, producer, and songwriter have been instrumental in shaping the sound of My Morning Jacket. He has also released solo albums and was recognized as the best songwriter in Esquire's 2006 Esky Music Awards.
