Jim Jarmusch Biography
James Robert Jarmusch (born January 22, 1953) is an American film director and screenwriter known for his contributions to independent cinema. Born in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, Jarmusch grew up in a middle-class suburban family. His mother, of German and Irish descent, was a film and theater reviewer, while his father, of Czech and German descent, worked as a businessman. Jarmusch's filmography includes Stranger Than Paradise (1984), Down by Law (1986), Mystery Train (1989), Dead Man (1995), Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai (1999), Coffee and Cigarettes (2003), Broken Flowers (2005), Only Lovers Left Alive (2013), and Paterson (2016). In addition to directing, Jarmusch has composed music for his films and collaborated on albums with Jozef van Wissem.
