Jim Lehrer
Jim Lehrer (1934–2020) was an American journalist, novelist, screenwriter, and playwright. He served as the executive editor and news anchor for the PBS NewsHour on PBS. Lehrer gained recognition as a debate moderator during U.S. presidential election campaigns, moderating twelve debates between 1988 and 2012. Born on May 19, 1934 in Wichita, Kansas, Lehrer's parents were Lois Catherine Lehrer and Harry Frederick Lehrer. He had an older brother, Fred, who became a Baptist minister. Lehrer authored numerous books, both fiction and non-fiction, that drew upon his experience as a newsman, as well as his interests in history and politics.
