He is best known for hosting popular game shows like Celebrity Sweepstakes and The Game Game, as well as appearing in films and television throughout the late 1970s and '80s, including Gremlins. McKrell's broadcasting career spanned five decades, beginning in the 1970s. He hosted shows such as Quiz Kids, Sweethearts, and Couch Potatoes. McKrell also acted in various films and TV shows, including Annie Hall, Defending Your Life, Semi-Tough, Teen Wolf, and Harry's War, among others.
