Jimmy Breslin
Jimmy Breslin (October 17, 1928 – March 19, 2017) was an American journalist and author. He wrote columns for the New York Daily News Sunday edition and regularly contributed to various newspapers in New York City. Breslin was known for his brash and sympathetic portrayal of the white working-class people of New York City and received the 1986 Pulitzer Prize for Commentary. He published several novels and served as a columnist for the Long Island newspaper Newsday until his retirement in 2004. Born in Jamaica, Queens, Breslin came from an Irish Catholic family and used his writing to champion the stories of ordinary citizens.
