Jimmy Herman Biography
Jimmy Herman (October 25, 1940 - September 13, 2013) was an Indigenous Canadian actor of Chipewyan and Dene descent. Born on the Cold Lake Reserve in Alberta, Canada, he later moved to Edmonton to study at Grant MacEwan College's Native Communications Program. After graduating, Herman joined Native Counseling Services of Alberta as a media assistant before deciding to pursue a career in acting. He appeared in several films, including the acclaimed 'Dances with Wolves.' Throughout his career, he also did narration work for organizations such as Native Counseling Services, ACCESS radio, and the National Film Board. Jimmy Herman's passion for acting and his Indigenous heritage left a lasting impact on the entertainment industry.
