Joan Chen Biography
Joan Chen (born April 26, 1961) is a Chinese-American actress and film director. She gained recognition in China for her performance in the 1979 film Little Flower and later became known to American audiences for her role in the 1987 film The Last Emperor. Chen has appeared in notable TV shows such as Twin Peaks and has had roles in films including Red Rose White Rose, Saving Face, and The Home Song Stories. Apart from acting, she has also directed the feature film Xiu Xiu: The Sent Down Girl. Chen was born in Shanghai and was selected for the Actors' Training Program by the Shanghai Film Studio at the age of 14.
