Joan Hooley

Joan Hooley (born November 13, 1936) is a Jamaican-born actress known for her work in British television. She moved to the United Kingdom as a young girl and began her career there. Hooley gained recognition for her portrayal of Josie McFarlane in BBC's EastEnders. She has also appeared in various other television programmes since the 1950s. In 2015, she joined the cast of ITV's Off Their Rockers. Notably, Hooley made her television debut in the 1950s with a role in the ITV hospital soap opera Emergency – Ward 10. She played Dr. Louise Mahler and was involved in what was initially believed to be the first interracial kiss on television, although the scene was later altered due to its perceived suggestiveness.
