Joanna Miles is an American actress known for her roles in film and television. She was born in Nice, France, to American painter Jeanne Patterson Miles and French painter and art curator Johannes Schiefer. Miles immigrated to the United States in 1941 and became a naturalized citizen. She studied at The Putney School and later joined the Actors Studio, where she trained alongside notable actors such as Al Pacino, Robert De Niro, and Dustin Hoffman. In 1973, Miles received two Emmy Awards for her performance as Laura Wingfield in the film adaptation of Tennessee Williams' The Glass Menagerie. Throughout her career, she has appeared in various supporting roles in movies like The Way We Live Now (1970), Bug (1975), The Ultimate Warrior (1975), and The Dark Secret.
