Joaquin Phoenix

Joaquin Rafael Phoenix, born October 28, 1974, is an American actor known for his portrayal of dark and unconventional characters in independent films. He has received numerous accolades, including an Academy Award, a British Academy Film Award, a Grammy Award, and two Golden Globe Awards. Phoenix started his career appearing in television series in the 1980s with his brother River. He gained recognition for his roles in SpaceCamp (1986) and Parenthood (1989). Initially credited as Leaf Phoenix, he switched to his birth name in the 1990s. Phoenix garnered critical acclaim for his supporting roles in To Die For (1995) and Quills (2000), and received an Academy Award nomination for his performance as Commodus in Gladiator (2000).
