Joe McGann is an English actor born on July 24, 1958, in Kensington, Liverpool. Known for his diverse roles, McGann gained popularity for his lead role as Charlie Burrows in the TV comedy series The Upper Hand (1990–1996). He has also appeared in Night and Day and provided his voice for the video game Elden Ring (2022), portraying the character Sir Gideon Ofnir. McGann comes from a family of actors, with three younger brothers, Paul, Mark, and Stephen, all pursuing acting careers. In 1995, he acted alongside his brothers in the play Tom, Dick and Harry and starred with them in the BBC drama The Hanging Gale. Despite being initially cast as Barry Grant in the soap opera Brookside in 1982, he was later recast due to issues with obtaining an actors equity card.
