Joe Morton is an American stage, television, and film actor, born on October 18, 1947, in Harlem. He has collaborated with renowned director John Sayles in films such as The Brother from Another Planet (1984), City of Hope (1991), and Lone Star (1996). Morton has also appeared in notable movies including Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991), Of Mice and Men (1992), Speed (1994), Apt Pupil (1998), and American Gangster (2007). On television, he is recognized for his role as Eli Pope in Scandal, winning the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series in 2014. Additionally, Morton portrayed Henry Deacon on the TV series Eureka. In 2019, he lent his captivating voice to narrate the Audible program, The Water Dancer, by Ta-Nehisi Coates.
