Joe Penny is an American actor, born on June 24, 1956, in Uxbridge, London. He is best known for his roles as Nick Ryder in the detective series Riptide (1984-1986) and as Jake Styles in the CBS television series Jake and the Fatman (1987-1992). After his parents' divorce, Penny moved to California with his mother and attended Marina High School in Huntington Beach. He began his acting career with a minor role on Forever Fernwood in 1977 and went on to appear in various TV films and series. In addition to his major roles, Penny has made guest appearances on popular shows such as Touched by an Angel, T.J. Hooker, and The Sopranos.
