Joe Stevens Biography
Joe Stevens (born July 25, 1938) is an American photographer known for his iconic images of rock musicians and bands during the 1970s and 1980s. Born in New York City, Stevens began his career as a manager at the Playhouse, a coffee house in Greenwich Village, where he started taking pictures of the musicians who performed there. Inspired by photographer Jim Marshall, Stevens honed his skills and captured memorable moments with artists such as David Bowie, the Sex Pistols, and The Clash. Although he lacks formal training in photography, Stevens' talent and eye for capturing the essence of his subjects have earned him recognition in the industry. He later moved to England and continued his work as a photographer.
