Joe Strummer (21 August 1952 – 22 December 2002) was a British singer-songwriter and musician best known as the co-founder, lyricist, rhythm guitarist, and co-lead vocalist of punk rock band the Clash. With the Clash, he achieved success in both the UK and the US, and their music had a significant impact on rock music, particularly alternative rock. Strummer's career also included stints with the 101ers, the Latino Rockabilly War, the Mescaleros, and the Pogues, as well as solo music. His musical exploration allowed him to incorporate various genres such as reggae, ska, dub, funk, rap, and rockabilly.
