Joel Anderson (born February 11, 1960) is an American politician and public servant. He currently serves as a member of the San Diego County Board of Supervisors, representing the Republican party. Anderson has an extensive political background, having previously served as a California state senator, assemblyperson, and board member of a municipal water district. He was also the California state chair for the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC). Raised in Detroit, Anderson later moved to San Diego County, California. He graduated from Grossmont College with an associate's degree in business administration and obtained a bachelor's degree in finance and business administration from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. Anderson has actively contributed to his community, holding positions such as treasurer on the board of the Resource Conservation District of Greater San Diego County and director of proceedings of the Alpine Chamber of Commerce.
