Joel Hodgson (born February 20, 1960) is an American writer, comedian, and television actor, best known for creating and starring in Mystery Science Theater 3000 (MST3K) as the character Joel Robinson. MST3K was listed as 'one of the top 100 television shows of all time' by Time in 2007. From 2007 to 2013, Hodgson was involved in the 'movie riffing' project Cinematic Titanic with other MST3K alumni. He has also worked as Creative Lead for Media at Pennsylvania technology firm Cannae. Hodgson was born in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, and later moved to Green Bay. He began his career as a magician and ventriloquist, performing at local events.
