John Charles Bryan Barnes MBE (born 7 November 1963) is a former professional football player and manager. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest English players of all time. Barnes played as a quick and skillful left winger before transitioning to central midfield later in his career. He achieved great success with Liverpool, winning two League titles and two FA Cups. Additionally, he reached the FA Cup final with Watford, Liverpool, and Newcastle United. Barnes represented England on 79 occasions. Currently, he works as an author, commentator, and pundit for ESPN and SuperSport. Born in Jamaica, Barnes moved to London at the age of 12 and joined Watford in 1981 before transferring to Liverpool in 1987 for £900,000.
