John Andrew Boehner is a retired American politician who served as the 53rd speaker of the United States House of Representatives from 2011 to 2015. He was a member of the Republican Party and represented Ohio's 8th congressional district for 13 terms from 1991 to 2015. Boehner previously held positions as House Minority Leader from 2007 to 2011 and House Majority Leader from 2006 to 2007. In October 2015, he resigned from the House of Representatives due to opposition within the Republican conference. After leaving politics, Boehner joined the lobbying firm Squire Patton Boggs and became a board member of Reynolds American.
