John Cariani Biography
John Edward Cariani (born July 23, 1969) is an American actor and playwright. He is best known for his role as Julian Beck in the television series Law & Order. Cariani received a Tony Award nomination for his performance as Motel the Tailor in the 2004 Broadway revival of Fiddler on the Roof. He has also appeared in Broadway shows Something Rotten! and The Band's Visit. Cariani is recognized as the author of Almost, Maine, a highly produced play in American high schools. Born in Brockton, Massachusetts, he later moved to Presque Isle, Maine, where he attended Presque Isle High School. Cariani graduated from Amherst College in 1991 with a B.A. in history before pursuing a career in acting.
