John David Washington

John David Washington is an American actor and former professional football player. Born on July 28, 1984, he is the son of actor Denzel Washington. Washington began his career in college football at Morehouse College and later signed with the St. Louis Rams as an undrafted free agent in 2006. After four years with the United Football League's Sacramento Mountain Lions, he transitioned to acting. He gained recognition for his role in the HBO comedy series Ballers (2015–2019) and achieved a breakthrough with his performance as Ron Stallworth in Spike Lee's BlacKkKlansman (2018). Washington has since starred in notable films such as Tenet (2020), Malcom & Marie (2021), Beckett (2021), Amsterdam (2022), and The Creator (2023). He also made his Broadway debut in the revival of August Wilson's play The Piano Lesson (2022).
