John Sherwood de Lancie, Jr. (born March 20, 1948) is an American actor, director, producer, writer, and comedian. He is best known for his role as Q in various Star Trek series, starting with Star Trek: The Next Generation and continuing up to the third season of Star Trek: Picard in 2023. De Lancie has also appeared in other television series such as Days of Our Lives, Stargate SG-1, Breaking Bad, Torchwood, and provided the voice of Discord in My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic. In addition to his acting career, de Lancie is an outspoken secular activist and has been a featured speaker at events such as the Reason Rally and CSICon.
