John Deacon Biography
John Richard Deacon (born 19 August 1951) is an English retired musician, best known for being the bass guitarist for the rock band Queen. He joined Queen in 1971 based on his musical and electronic skills, particularly his home-made Deacy Amp. Deacon wrote several hits for the band, including 'You're My Best Friend,' 'Another One Bites the Dust,' and 'I Want to Break Free,' and co-wrote songs like 'Under Pressure,' 'Friends Will Be Friends,' and 'One Vision.' In addition to bass guitar, Deacon also played guitar, keyboards, and piano on Queen's studio work. He was involved in the band's financial management. Deacon grew up in Oadby, Leicester and studied electronics at Chelsea College, London.
