John Douglas Thompson (born 1964) is an English-American actor known for his compelling performances on the classical stage. He has been recognized for his talent with numerous awards, including two Drama Desk Awards, two Obie Awards, an Outer Critics Circle Award, and a Lucille Lortel Award. Thompson was born in Bath, England, to Jamaican parents and was raised in Montreal, Quebec, and Rochester, NY. After graduating from Le Moyne College in 1985, he initially pursued a career in marketing and business. However, he decided to follow his passion for acting and enrolled in the Brown University/Trinity Repertory Company program. Thompson has since appeared in lead and supporting roles at various theaters in New England, showcasing his exceptional talent and versatility.
