    John Arthur Duttine (born March 15, 1949) is an English actor known for his work in stage, film, and television. He gained recognition for his role as Sgt George Miller in the television series Heartbeat and as Bill Masen in The Day of the Triffids. Born in Barnsley, West Riding of Yorkshire, Duttine attended Buttershaw Secondary School and later trained at the Drama Centre London. He made his television debut in the BBC adaptation of A Pin to See the Peep Show in 1973 and went on to star in various productions, including Jesus of Nazareth and The Nine Tailors. Duttine continues to act and is respected for his versatile performances.
