John Michael Green (born August 24, 1977) is an American author, YouTuber, podcaster, and philanthropist. He is known for his bestselling books, including The Fault in Our Stars (2012), which has sold more than 50 million copies worldwide. Green's unique voice and rapid rise to fame have had a significant impact on the young adult fiction market. He has also gained recognition for his online video content, particularly his YouTube collaborations with his brother Hank Green. Born in Indianapolis, Indiana, Green grew up in Orlando, Florida, and attended boarding school in Alabama. He graduated from Kenyon College with a double major in English and religious studies in 2000. Green's debut novel, Looking for Alaska (2005), earned him the 2006 Michael L. Printz Award.
