John Hostetter Biography
John Hostetter (October 6, 1946 – September 2, 2016) was an American actor and visual artist. He was best known for his role as John, the stage manager, on the CBS sitcom Murphy Brown from 1988 to 1998. Born in Brooklyn, New York, on October 6, 1946, Hostetter grew up in Hanover, Pennsylvania. He attended Catawba College, the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and later completed his master's degree in acting at Cornell University. Hostetter began his career with the National Shakespeare Company before moving to California in 1971. Throughout his career, he appeared in over 100 film and television roles, including appearances on Cagney & Lacey and Coach.
