John Kasich

John Kasich is an American politician, author, and television political commentator. He was born on May 13, 1952, in McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania. Kasich moved to Ohio in 1970 to attend college and later served in the Ohio Senate. He represented Ohio's 12th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives for nine terms, during which he served on the House Armed Services Committee and was chairman of the House Budget Committee. Kasich played a key role in the passage of welfare reform legislation in 1996 and the Balanced Budget Act of 1997. He served as the 69th governor of Ohio from 2011 to 2019 and sought the Republican presidential nomination in 2000 and 2016.
