John McMartin Biography
John Francis McMartin (August 21, 1929 – July 6, 2016) was an American actor of stage, film, and television. Born in Warsaw, Indiana, on August 21, 1929, McMartin was raised in St. Cloud, Minnesota. After serving in the United States Army as a paratrooper, he pursued his acting career. McMartin made his off-Broadway debut in 1959 and won a Theatre World Award for his role in Little Mary Sunshine. He went on to have a successful Broadway career, earning a Tony nomination for his role in Sweet Charity. In addition to his stage work, McMartin also appeared in various films and television shows throughout his career.
