John Michie

John Michie (born 25 October 1956) is a Scottish television and film actor. He is best known for his roles as DI Robbie Ross in the STV detective drama series Taggart, Karl Munro in Coronation Street (2011-2013), and CEO Guy Self in Casualty and Holby City. Michie was born in Burma and later settled in Edinburgh. He attended Windlesham House School and Glenalmond College. At the age of nineteen, he worked in Australia as a jackaroo herding cattle before returning to Scotland. Michie started his acting career in Nairobi, Kenya, in 1980. He has also appeared in Moon and Son (1992) and The Ruth Rendell Mysteries.
