    John Nettles Biography
    John Vivian Drummond Nettles, OBE, born on 11 October 1943, is an English actor and author. He gained prominence for his roles in the crime drama television series Bergerac (1981–1991) and Midsomer Murders (1997–2011), where he portrayed Detective Chief Inspector Tom Barnaby. In addition to his acting career, Nettles has also narrated various television series. Born in St Austell, Cornwall, Nettles was adopted at birth by Eric and Elsie Nettles. He attended St Austell Grammar School and later studied history and philosophy at the University of Southampton. Nettles' passion for acting led him to join the Royal Court Theatre after completing his studies. He has had a successful and acclaimed career in the entertainment industry.
