John Sebastian

John Benson Sebastian is an American singer, songwriter, and musician who is best known for founding the rock band the Lovin' Spoonful. He was born on March 17, 1944, in New York City and grew up in Italy and Greenwich Village. Sebastian's father, John Sebastian, was a renowned classical harmonica player, and his mother, Jane, was a radio script writer. He made a memorable impromptu appearance at the Woodstock festival in 1969 and achieved a U.S. No. 1 hit in 1976 with the song 'Welcome Back.' In 2000, Sebastian was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the Lovin' Spoonful.
