Johnny Gilbert

Johnny Gilbert, born John Lewis Gilbert III on July 13, 1928, is an American show business personality primarily known for his work on television game shows. Starting as a nightclub singer and entertainer, Gilbert has hosted and announced numerous game shows from different eras, dating back to the 1950s. He gained significant recognition as the announcer and audience host for the syndicated version of the popular quiz show Jeopardy! since its revival in 1984. Born in Newport News, Virginia, Gilbert began his performing career as a choir singer in his local Lutheran Church. He later pursued a professional singing career and became the regular vocalist for Shelly Harmon and His Orchestra in Virginia.
