Jonathan Michael Lovitz, born on July 21, 1957, is an American actor and comedian. He gained recognition for his role as a cast member on the NBC sketch comedy series Saturday Night Live from 1985 to 1990. Lovitz is also known for portraying Jay Sherman in the animated series The Critic and as a baseball scout in the film A League of Their Own. He has appeared in a total of 20 episodes of the long-running animated series The Simpsons. Lovitz was born in Los Angeles to Harold and Barbara Lovitz, both of Jewish descent.
