Jon Ossoff
Jon Ossoff is an American politician and senior United States senator from Georgia. Born on February 16, 1987, in Atlanta, Ossoff comes from a Jewish father and an Australian mother. Before entering politics, Ossoff worked as a documentary filmmaker and investigative journalist. He gained national attention when he ran as the Democratic nominee in the 2017 special election for Georgia's 6th congressional district, a traditionally Republican stronghold. Although he narrowly lost the race, it became the most expensive House election in U.S. history. In 2020, Ossoff won the Democratic nomination for the U.S. Senate election in Georgia, eventually winning the runoff election on January 5, 2021, against incumbent Republican senator David Perdue.
