Xiao started acting in middle school and faced racial slurs like 'chink' and 'yellow,' which motivated her to break stereotypes through acting. She founded Career ACTivate, a platform that helps actors advance their careers. Xiao was cast in Spider-Man: Homecoming, with Marisa Tomei advocating for her despite her role being initially non-Asian. Unfortunately, her part was cut from the final film. In 2021, she provided the voice for a younger Namaari in Raya and the Last Dragon.
