Jonathan Ray Banks (born January 31, 1947) is an American actor known for his roles in both film and television. He was born in Washington, D.C., and raised in Chillum Heights, Maryland. Banks began his acting career while studying at Indiana University Bloomington, and later moved to Los Angeles in 1974. He gained recognition for his portrayal of FBI Special Agent Frank McPike in the television series Wiseguy (1987–1990), which earned him a Primetime Emmy Award nomination. However, it was his role as hitman and fixer Mike Ehrmantraut in the critically acclaimed series Breaking Bad (2009–2012) that brought him widespread fame. Banks reprised the character in the Breaking Bad spin-off Better Call Saul (2015–2022) and the film El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie (2019), earning him multiple Primetime Emmy Award nominations.
