Jonathan Roumie (born July 1, 1974) is an American actor known for his role as Jesus in The Chosen, a crowd-funded television series about the life and ministry of Jesus of Nazareth. He is also a voice artist. Roumie's father, of Syro-Lebanese origin, was born in Egypt, while his mother is Irish. Roumie's family name, 'Roumie', originates from Lebanon. Before pursuing acting, Roumie earned a degree in film from the School of Visual Arts. He is a practicing Catholic, having converted from the Greek Orthodox Church to Roman Catholicism. Roumie currently resides in the suburbs of New York City.
